Poultry Flock

Chicken math is a real thing! Our flock is constantly fluctuating, but many have names, and all have distinct personalities. When at Lavenwell, you’ll see our feathery friends free-ranging all over the property. They help keep bugs down, snakes absent, fertilize the soil, and best of all- give us the most beautifully colored eggs. We also have a small handful of geese, ducks and turkeys.

Nubian Goat: Heidi

We care for a small herd of Nubian goats and consider them one of the most important team members. When in milk (the majority of the year after having their babies), they are milked each morning. The delicious milk is enjoyed by our family and the extra is used to make all natural, incredible lotions and soaps. They are the sweetest animals and love human interaction. Our herd is disease free and tested yearly to ensure optimum health. We use herbal, natural treatments and supplements whenever possible to keep them healthy as can be. If you’re interested in purchasing goat kids, please let me know. We expect a handful of babies late winter/ early spring 2024. (This is “Heidi”)

Pony

Meet “Roper!” He’s our ten year old paint pony. He’s super sweet and a wonderful companion to our goats and to our family.

Livestock Guardian Dog

“Mercy” is our LGD and a vital team member! She's in charge of keeping coyotes and other predators away and has so far done a marvelous job. She is a registered Karakachan.

Nubian Goat: “Anna”-our herd queen

Anna is our main mama. She’s our heavy milker and is sturdy as they come. We’ve bred both Does to a mini Nubian with amazing genetics for this breeding season. We look forward to seeing her kids!

Rabbits

We currently have two rabbits who live their happy little lives and give us garden fertilizer gold- aka- bunny poo. They play a huge part in our healthy, productive garden soil. Note: Pictured rabbit is not our rabbit. I need to get some photos of our two little ones. But, they look like this!
